Bruce Zimmermann (1-0) gave the Baltimore Orioles a quality start on Friday in Anaheim. The southpaw led the Birds to a 5-3 win over the LA Angels with his 6.0 inning, 5 hit, 3 run (2 earned) performance. He needed 76 pitches (51 strikes) to navigate the Angels lineup, walked 1 batter and struck out 6. Zimmermann limited Shohei Ohtani to an 0-4 night with 3 strikeouts but did surrender an Anthony Rendon home run in the seventh inning that ended his night (the homerun followed a leadoff walk to Mike Trout).

Felix Bautista (1.0 IP, 1 H), Cionel Perez (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 K) and Jorge Lopez (1.0 IP, 1 H, 2 K) finished what Zimmermann started; Lopez earned his 3rd save of the season.

Robinson Chirinos returned to the lineup after being hit by a pitch in Oakland on Wednesday and went 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI.

Jorge Mateo stole 2 bases in a 1 for 4 night and Ramon Urias went 1 for 4 with a run scored and 1 RBI.

Anthony Santander, who has reached base in all 14 of the Orioles’ games, had a 1 for 3 night with 2 runs scored, 1 RBI and a walk.

Trey Mancini and Ryan Mountcastle each went 1 for 4 with a run scored.
