Sunday’s 7-6 win over the Tampa Bay Rays gave the Baltimore Orioles a rare series win over their AL East counterparts. They did it first by first overcoming a two run deficit in the 9th inning, then waiting out a 51 minute rain delay and finally scoring on a Rougned Odor (2 for 6, 2 2B, 2 RBI) ground ball that went under the glove of Tampa’s Ji-Man Choi, allowing Adley Rutschman (1 for 5, 1 run scored, HBP) to cross the plate with the winning run.

The Orioles would not have been in position to win had it not been for Austin Hays (1 for 1, 2 RBI). His pinch hit two-out, two-strike single scored the two runs that tied the game at 6.

The game did not start well for the Orioles as starter Spenser Watkins (0.0 IP, 3 R, 3 H) was removed after just facing three batters. A line drive by Choi hit him in the right forearm. It was called a contusion with preliminary x-rays being negative. This made the game an all hands on deck bullpen event that by the time it ended all that remained in the bullpen were Keegan Akin and Mike Baumann, who had pitched on Saturday.

Cionel Perez (2-0) gave up 1 hit, walked 2 and struck out 3 in 2.0 innings of relief to earn the win.

Ryan Mountcastle went 2 for 4 with a homerun, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI and a walk. Mountcastle left the game in the 9th inning with heat-related issues.

Ramon Urias went 2 for 4 with a run scored, a RBI and a walk.
