Monday’s game with the Cincinnati Reds didn’t end until a few minutes after midnight. The game itself took 2 hours and 57 minutes to play but the start was delayed 15 minutes and then there was an hour and 44 minute delay in the bottom of the third due to rain.

When all was said and done, the Baltimore Orioles won the game 10-3. The rain did not ruin the MLB debut of Jordan Westburg, however, it just dampened it. In front of his parents, wife and a raucous group of friends behind home plate Westburg went 1 for 4 with a run scored, 1 RBI and a walk. The walk came during a downpour in Westburg’s first at bat. He also made a nice glove flip to get a force out in the fifth inning. The only downer to the debut may have been Westburg’s caught stealing in the seventh.

The Orioles sprayed the ball all over the field with only two hits going for extra bases; the rain took up the slack kept the “Bird Bath” section wet.

Austin Hays went 2 for 5 with a double, 1 run scored and 3 RBI.

Ramon Urias went 2 for 5 with a double, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.

Adley Rutschman went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and a walk.

Anthony Santander went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored.

Cedric Mullins went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI and a walk.

The rain cut short the start by Cole Irvin, who allowed 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 3 in 3.0 innings. Bruce Zimmermann (1-0) pitched after the delay and earned the win, going 3.0 innings and allowing 2 runs on 4 hits (1 HR), striking out 2 and hitting a batter.

The bullpen trio of Bryan Baker, Mike Baumann and Cionel Perez each tossed a scoreless and hitless inning to close out the game.

As a footnote, there was another Camden Yards debut. Cincinnati rookie sensation Elly De La Cruz went 0 for 4, scored a run and struck out twice.
