Cedric Mullins made his Major League debut as Adam Jones replacement in centerfield. Adam moved to right and Dylan Bundy led the pitching staff on fireworks night.
In this season of position players pitching, Dylan Bundy looked like one. Reprieved of a five homer start by rain out, Dylan said “watch this.” He surrendered the first eight Red Sox runs, only seven of them earned. He only lasted five innings.
Cedric Mullins had three hits in his major league debut, his first a double in his first at bat. He had another double and a single as well as a walk on his first day as a big leaguer.
Mark Trumbo had three hits, with Chris Davis and Adam Jones two apiece. Davis and Trumbo homered.
Miguel Castro, Don Hart, and Evan Phillips all were pounded for runs as none proved an answer for the Boston bats.
Tanner Scott only allowed one run over one and two thirds innings and that made him look like the pretty one.
