The Orioles used an “Opener,” outhit, and outplayed the Bombers to even the season record at one and one.

Starting Pitching

Nate Karns made his first Orioles “start” pitching two innings as an opener. He allowed no runs. He had not been healthy enough to pitch in an MLB game since May of 2018. Karns allowed a hit and three walks over two innings.

Other Pitching

Jimmy Yacabonis pitched three strong innings allowing a run and bridged the opening to the relief corp.
Miguel Castro pitched two scoreless relief innings and Mychal Givens one. Richard Bleier allowed two runs in a third of the ninth inning and Michael Wright nailed down the save facing the potential winning run with two strikeouts.

Batting Highlights

Jesus Sucre was the Orioles hitting star with three hits and three runs driven in. He had two singles and a double.


Dwight Smith Jr. continued to excite with two hits. Richie Martin collected his first MLB hit and Rio Ruiz doubled.

Defensive Highlights

Two slick double plays bailed Karns out of an early pickle.
