Rougned Odor (1 for 3, 1 run scored) opened the O’s half of the fifth inning with a triple and then scored on a Ramon Urias (0 for 2, 1 RBI) sacrifice fly.
Cedric Mullins (1 for 4), Anthony Santander (1 for 4) and Tyler Nevin (1 for 4) combined with Odor to account for entirety of the Baltimore offense.
The game was actually a duel among starting pitchers. Tyler Wells allowed 1 run on 4 hits and struck out 4 over 5.0 innings, matching Minnesota’s Chris Paddack, who allowed 1 run on 4 hits with a walk and 3 strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
The only difference was the fact that the Orioles could not take advantage of the Twins bullpen (3.2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 5 K) while Minnesota took advantage of Bryan Baker (1-1). A single, a groundout to first and another single put the Twins up 2-1 and made Baker the pitcher of record with a line of 0.1 IP, 1 R, 2 H).
The Birds managed to get Austin Hays (0 for 3, 1 walk) to third base in the home half of the sixth and a runner on base in the eighth but went three-up, three-down in the seventh and ninth.
For those keeping track, the announced attendance was 7,427, although it looked less on the MASN broadcast.
