Adley Shows Toronto That Trey’s No-savage

The Baltimore Orioles travelled north of the border Friday to begin a three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays (30-34). What occured was a crime as the Orioles assaulted the Blue Jays 13-3. Baltimore took advantage of Blue Jays’ starter Trey Yesavage (2-3) by scoring 6 runs on 5 hits, including a pair of homeruns, while walking twice over 5.2 innings; they did strike out 5 times, however.

Adley Rutschman recorded a double, a homerun, a walk and 3 RBI against Yesavage on his way to a 4 for 4 night with 2 doubles, a homerun, 4 runs scored, 5 RBI and a walk

Baltimore starter Brandon Young (4-1) got the better of Yesavage by allowing 3 runs on 7 hits with 4 strikeouts. He did surrender a two-run homerun to Brandon Valenzuela in the fifth inning.

The relief trio of Grant Wolfram (0.2 IP), Yennier Cano (1.0 IP) and Anthony Nunez (1.0 IP, H, K) finished what Young started.

The Orioles scored the rest of their runs in clusters on Friday, 5 runs in the sixth, 3 runs in the eighth and finally 4 runs in the ninth inning.

The sixth inning saw a Rutschman two-RBI double, a Jeremiah Jackson RBI single and a two-run homerun by Coby Mayo. That homerun travelled 396 ft. to left field, landing in the second level of the Rogers Centre. Jackson entered the game in place of Samuel Basallo, who left the game with discomfort in his right abdomen.

In the eighth Jackson produced another RBI single while Colton Cowser did the same. Leody Taveras plated a run on his pitcher to first base ground out.

Rutschman hit a two-RBI double in the ninth and Baltimore’s final 2 runs scored on a throwing error atthird on a Taveras ball in play.

Jackson went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI in his abbreviated game.

Mayo went 1 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.

Cowser went 2 for 5 with a RBI.

Jackson Holliday went 1 for 5 with a double and a run scored.
